Mr. Jonathan Robertson and his One Act Play students were a 2019 Grant Recipient for LED Portable Stage Lighting.
The grant provided the One Act Play (OAP) six, state of the art, portable stage lights. They were able to successfully go to any stage and set the scene and mood with the look that they designed and that their actors were accustomed to. Not only that, but the portable nature of the lights and the ability to set them up quickly is imperative to the project as the OAP contest rules only allow a maximum of seven minutes to set the stage. Additionally, there are rules limiting the test of the lights during this seven minutes of setup and therefore, the lighting must be able to be mastered and set up by a student technicial quickly and confidently.
Mr. Robertson said “the program was a smashing success! We first used them in the fall production and a couple of OAP festivals in Ackerly and Western Texas College. We then used them for the school production and the 22nd Annual Dinner Theatre. By the third use, the students running them could set them up in 2 minutes. We won 1st place at District OAP and the judges said that they loved our lighting and we won the Technical Award. We had 10 seniors in OAP and were well on our way to Bi-District and another smashing success, if it were not for Covid-19. SEF helped make all of this possible.”

Mr. Robertson said that this year the students learned how to program the lights to use multiple colors simultaneously and that worked really well for OAP.
