We are thrilled to announce Krista Gerlich as the 2021 Sudan Education Foundation Dinner & Auction keynote speaker!
Krista is a 1987 Sudan High School basketball state champion, a 1993 Texas Tech Lady Raider national champion and the current head coach of the Texas Tech Lady Raiders.
In High School, in addition to playing on the 1987 Sudan state championship team coached by her dad, Coach Jim Kirkland, Krista received three all-state basketball selections, a cross-country state championship for Spearman High School and four cross-county all-state selections. As a player at Texas Tech, she received three All-Southwest Conference accolades, and she was named to the 1993 SWC All-Tournament team, the 1993 West Regional All-Tournament team and the 1993 Final Four All-Tournament team. As a coach she’s received numerous awards including two TABC Coach of the Year awards, three conference coach of the year honors, three conference titles, five NCAA Tournament wins and eight 20-win seasons. Krista has experienced great success at each stop of her basketball career so far and she’s just getting started as the head coach of her alma mater!
We are very excited to have Krista and her family at this year’s event. And we can’t wait to see you there, too! It’s September 25th at 7 pm, during the Homecoming and Hornet Harvest Festival weekend.
